Opening this book i was surprised that i could recognize the art and as much as the artist found the time to draw this book, i hung around and read the comics. To set things up, i am not familiar with the justice league aside from what i heard here on ifanboy’s podcasts and the initial 6 issues of this new book. I’ll admit that i picked this 1st 6 issues because of jim lee mainly to see how he’s been aging (artwise) and he aged well at least on my book. I expected him to not stay on this book and soon enough a new artist did took over. But now he’s back. The art is cleaner that usual and clearer in story telling. I don’t know if it’s johns who directed the panel layouts but its not your usual Jim lee panel breaking and i thought that was a welcome touch to keep it simple and pleasant. This made me focus on the story more. For me that read issue 1-6 and skipped to this issue 9, i felt that i didnt miss anything. Johns tended to be more wordy than what i’m accustomed to but if you stick around you will be rewarded. I love the character banters and the subtle characterizations between heroes (because we have to admit, Jim lee tends to draw many of his men and women very similarly) I especially loved the dynamics between Green lantern and the Flash on this one. Well done, Mr. Johns. I also loved the flashbacks that lace the many pages of this one which makes us feel there this is some actual individual exploits between heroes and makes their team-ups stronger.

The second story about shazam is not a pushover too granted i am not too keen on the character but that is just my thing. I will stick around for more though and give it its due read.
