JOHN BYRNE NEXT MEN #1

Review by: DenverDave
By John Byrne

Size: 32 pages
Price: 3.99

Let me start by saying I don’t know what John Byrne did or said. Apparently he’s a Nazi or a white supremacist, judging by this issue he’s a bit of a sexist — but like I said I don’t know. I can say I think he’s a brilliant comic story teller, artist and science fiction mind. That said, I used to love this title and picking this up reminded me of how much I liked these characters and stories. And, right from page one we’re launched into an exciting new story just like the days of old. However, by page 5 a ten page recapping of the entire series begins and as fun as nostalgia can be, I’m not sure how I feel about paying $4 to be reminded. But just as I’m ready to write off the book the story takes another twist and a whole new storyline and set of questions are revealed and made me say; “hmmmm, maybe I’lll try next issue”.

Like I said before, Byrne’s a mastermind story teller, albeit a total dickhead I’m sure.

Story: 4 - Very Good

  1. Good review DD.   Matermind story teller?  not so sure.  But he is still is one helluva an artist.  See you for issue #2!

  2. It’s like he’s an evil genius! What did he do, BTW?
