This is one of those “high concept” idea books in my opinion. Especially after a guy at my LCS pointed out, “Isn’t Jesus kind of a zombie in a way; I mean he died and came back to life right?” This got me thinking. And who can resist President Lincoln chopping up and shooting werewolves? Not me. The story was a little lacking for being 64 pages and $7.95 but still enjoyable. The Jesus and Lincoln stories alternate throughout the book every 5-10 pages and as for now there seems to be no connection between the two. Basically, Jesus has been sent back to Earth to fight zombies by his dad (God) although he has no powers because his power comes from people believing in his, and almost no one does. So instead he busts zombie heads with a baseball bat with his dim-whitted zombie side-kick. Lincoln on the other hand has charges himself with keeping the country safe from all forms of evil, including werewolves and includes some backstory about his first meeting with a werewolf. This is thevolume 1 of 4 for this story arc and was your standard intro to the characters and the world they live in. The art is black and white and good but very angular which isn’t my favorite. The dialogue is very humorous at times and comments on religious stereotypes and perceptions without being preachy. I will continue to pick this up and I am waiting for the re-release of the first volume GN entitled Jesus Hates Zombies: Those Slack-Jawed Blues Expanded Edition that is solicited in the newest Diamond catelogue.

I must find a way to own this.
‘This is one of those high concept books’
Yeah no kidding, look at the title! lol
Seriously I need to find this somewhere and look at it. If it’s as cool as you say it is I dont care how short it is, I need to have it.
Your LCS should be able to order it through Diamond. Otherwise I have seen it on amazon.com and heavyink.com (they have it for 20% off with free shipping). Glad I could interest a few others.
This book was good. But I justify another $8 bucks when half this book was pinups. They could have easily made one $3 or $4 normal comic book and probably got more readers that way. I picked up the only one my store had. I think the store probably would have bought 6 to 10 of these if it was a normal book.
