I’m really starting to fall in love with this book which is
appropriate since at its core, beneath all the alien gods, super-heroics, and
other assorted zaniness this is a love story. A rather realistic love story at
that, at least from emotional point of view. Or perhaps honest would be better
word to use. Regardless this is a terrific jumping on point after. The initial
but necessary setup of the first 5 issues is done with and we finally get to
the long promised heart of what has been promised from the beginning with this
series: what happens when a Jack Kirby-esque God falls in love with a fairly
average girl from Jersey. There are a lot of
little moments that will ring true in this issue to anyone who has been in a
relationship before while the big set piece of the issue is entertaining even
if somewhat familiar. This is a great book that really brings a wonderfully
human edge to a group of beings not far removed from the Fourth
World
. Any fans of shows like Buffy, books like the Dresden Files,
or comics like Scott Pilgrim should definitely give this image ongoing a look
see.

Highly Recommended.
