I was afraid this series will not end at a great final issue and sure enough upon initial reading i was kind of disppointed. But then, unlike other media, i easily went back and reread the issue and even some of the books. Time and space truly is a factor on reading this series by Mark Waid. Reading this series in issues truly made you feel the build-up to the plots of the story. But when read in clusters and in the inevitable trade format, this series shines as a story for the ages. You as the reader will use your own mental faculties to determine what redemtion really means and frankly this book almost made my head hurt with its lofty sci-fi ideas and language but the true “heart” of the story is shown (and literally shot too) in the final, epic issue. Suffice to say i loved how this book ended although it took me a second reading to appreciate it. (that’s my fauly)

The art is wonderful, clean and very very evocative of whats suppose to be conveyed in the panels. I especially liked how, despite the perverse and grim tone of this book, there’s a string of panels that clealy said “light of hope” on them with out any actual dialoge or naration happening. It’s hard to pull that off and this is coming from a person who actually made a comic book. Well done, Mr. Barreto.

Irredeemable. A real source of inspiration for our time. (and space)

Story: 4 - Very Good
Art: 5 - Excellent

  1. I started reading this – and will subsequentlt finish reading it – by trade. But I’m glad to hear it ended so strongly!

  2. I meant fault there not “fauly”

  3. Good review. I enjoyed this issue quite a bit. Especially the cover.

  4. Huh. I read the first 20 or so issues I found in a dollar bin and then lost track. I’m glad it’s getting tied up, I may keep my eyes peeled for some of the last issues. Good to hear you liked he end. The artist WAS awesome

    • Mark really took care of many of the loose ends by the end of the story. (“most” but not all) He left some plots hanging no doubt and i’m already reading that some people didn’t like that. I agree with them but i felt that the main plots that mattered were given a fair end. Mark can explore many of these plots in the future of course.
