This is one of those stories where someone who was once believed good did something truly awful, and now nothing can redeem him from his past.  But what did he do?  How did he become this way?

This issue doesn’t answer any vital questions.  But it makes you ask them out loud,. as you read it.  And it makes you want to pick up the next issue to find out more.

But, since this is a Boom comic, the titular character might want to watch out for The Boys.  They’re probably crawling around this universe somewhere.

Story: 5 - Excellent
Art: 4 - Very Good

  1. Dude, what the hell are you talking about? The boys are a Dynamite Entertainment publication. This (Irredeemable) is under Boom Studios.

  2. Dynamite, Boom.  Both explosion heavy "indie" comics.  Same difference.  I still think of it as a Wildstorm book sometimes.

  3. Were there additional pages?

  4. I don’t think The Boys want any of the Plutonian, did you see how he fried that woman and the baby?

     Talk about ruthless.

I thought it was a really good book, nice review.

  5. "Dynamite, Boom.  Both explosion heavy "indie" comics.  Same difference.  I still think of it as a Wildstorm book sometimes."     <——— I still don’t see the correlation , not even a little bit; it’s ok to admit you made a mistake. If someone who doesn’t read comics all that often came in here and saw your review they’d be awfully confused.

  6. @jobob: I think he did admit his mistake. And he made a funny at the same time. Huzzah!

  7. Also, jobob, I think of it as a Wildstorm book, because that’s the press it was run on for the first few issues.  Then there was a write-in campaign, as some people thought it was homophobic beause it portrayed gay/bi characters in a negative light.  Of course, they failed to realize that The Boys shows every character in a bad light.  The superheroes understoood that, and didn’t lodge any complaints.

As for people being confused by whether the title is on Dynamite or Boom, I don’t think many people notice things like that.  Shute, I work in a comic book store, and the only way I differentiate between the two is if I see an Alex Ross cover, then I know it’s Dynamite.

  8. @Balsam: Yea, that baby-q was just…wow.  I don’t know who you’d call in against The Plutonian.  Even Dr. Light would be, all like "Shit dude.  That was just a fricken baby.  You’ve got to wait for those bitches to grow up a little before you molest and kill them."
