Nooo!!!!

Ryan Stegman’s last issue as artist!! Why does he have to leave this!? Don’t do this merciful Zeus!

Well considering what happens to Zeus in this issue, he’s not going to be much help. What Pak and Van Lente did in this issue is a bunch of different things. One thing to mention is that they throw almost everything mythological and the kitchen sink. I don’t know what is cooler; that I know all of these myths or that these two guys are now like historians when it comes to this stuff.

As a final issue to this arc I can definitely say that shit goes down. Friendships are lost and a father and son relationship has gotten a whole lot weirder. When these two guys write this series, you can definitely know it will last a while. A dynamic of this series has changed and it probably won’t be fixed for a long time. What this issue also did is just really tug your heart. Sure this had some really funny bits in it, like Hercules stating Shakespear speech makes no sense for Greek Gods. But there is some moments here where it can just be as heart wrenching as a more dramatic comic. It goes to show that comedy is nothing but a pillow to something that’s about to punch you into the face.

As I lamented earlier, this is Stegman’s last issue as artist. Why this has become a round table of artists makes no sense to me. I wish they could stick to one person, and I want Stegman on forever. At first his style was a bit of the same. Overtime though his over the top muscles and facial expressions really sold this book. It made the title more funny because it fits the over the top writing. Also there is some really good fight layouts in this, especially the third page where Hercules get a nice left hand shot.

More people need to pick this series up. It starts a new story arc next issue and for the next couple of issues, it will be out two times a month. As a whole this was a really funny and interesting arc. It had some really good art in it as well and I will miss Ryan Stegman (at least we can chat on Twitter). As an issue, this is definitely one of the best Marvel titles to come out this month.

Story: 4 - Very Good
