Hey everybody? Remember when Marvel actually focused on telling a good story and not focus in on events?….Yeah me neither. In my entire life-time, or at least since 2004, Marvel has been focusing on events waaay to much. For that, other titles suffer because it has to be tied in to the events even when they dont call for it. Incredible Herc was forced to do Secret Invasion, but it was actually pretty damn good (better then the main event) and I was hoping this ‘Dark Reign’ tie-in would just be for show only. You know like has maybe a page of Osborn coming in saying ‘I’m the new leader blah blah blah’…..Then we get back onboard with corporate Greek Gods fighting everybody’s loveable Greek Hero. But what do I get instead?

Countless pages of Osborn taking to the lead villain, telling me how he is the leader now…blah blah blah blah. That almost throws everything in the wayside why I loved this series from day one. Oh sure there are some retellings of Greek myths, reading gods having arguements, and Hercules acting like an idiot; and that stuff was entertaining! Dont get me wrong, the first half of this book is really good, stuff that makes me love this series. But then Osborn comes in….and then my interest in this series almost dies. Then we go back to the adventures of Hercules for 5 pages and my interest was picking up again….and then what happens with 3 pages left to go?

Dark Avengers come strolling in, Osborn saying to take everyone down, I throw comic in the trash (and then put it back in my shelf), and I am pissed off.

I thought this series would go the Abnett and Lanning route and just briefly mention the new status quo and get on with the story. But nope, now I gotta deal with Hercules fighting Osborn and the rest of his Avengers I could give a shit about. Why Marvel? Why are you ruining one of my favorite series? Please get this back on track next issue, let it be a dream and we get back to Herc fighting Hera, Pluto, and the rest of the evil Gods…Oh please dont make this the millionth Dark Avengers fight in a Marvel comic….Oh please?
