SO THAT’S WHAT GOD-ENTRAILS LOOK LIKE?

I’m not sure if Greg Pak is leaving the book or he just got a helping hand this issue, but I’ve definitely enjoyed his run on The Incredible Hulk, Planet Hulk, World War Hulk and now The Incredible Hercules. It’s pretty obvious to nearly everyone that there will never be a Hercules book that enjoys a long run. He’s just not a big draw. The current Sacred Invasion story arc has been a lot of good clean fun, kinda like a mix between a typical Avengers-style team book and a cosmic adventure. Herc and his band of gods and demi-gods have travelled across the dreamscape and NIghtmare’s realm to take out the Skrull gods, and thus destroy the foundation of the Skrull army’s faith. The whole “He loves you” thing that you see across the pages of Secret Invasion? It all ties back to this book, and the finale of this story has a profound impact on the Skrull armada. It may not be an effect largely explored in the pages of SI, but it serves as a great backup to the events of SI #5. I doubt we’ll see much of ol’ Herc after the next story arc, but I’d be thrilled if I was wrong. The guy just can’t catch a break. However, Amadeus Cho is an entertaining character who has a lot of untapped potential, and is determined to find his long lost coyote pup, Kirby, so I’m happy to say that he will probably stick around for a while. Is anyone else bothered that “The Incredible” will no longer be attached to the title of “Hulk”? It’s like taking the “Fantastic” out of Fantastic Four. But I guess where (no adjective) “Spider Man”  failed, they expect “Hulk” and “Thor” to succeed without fun adjectives. I’ll be doing backflips if they cut out “Mighty” and “New” and make the book just plain-old “Avengers”. That’ll be sweet.
