As a fan of Criminal and Sleeper, I really enjoyed the beginning of this series.  It showed a lot of promise.

Sadly, as the issues have gone on, my interest has waned.  I care less and less about this character with every passing panel.  Thus, starting out this issue with the origin of Overkill was a sure way to get me to put the book down.  Which is what I did.  Eventually picking it up to flip through it for plot points, but nothing excited me enough to want to read this issue.  I did take a glance at the last page, and it seemed super trite and contrived.  The ending of a really low-budget action flick.  And not the fun kind.

I’m excited that this team will be going back to Criminal.

  1. It’s kinda lame to review a book you didn’t even read. And I don’t even know how you can give this Phillips art a 3.

  2. @miyamoto: I’ve read the whole series from the first panel until this issue.  I started to read it, and it just didn’t interest me to finish reading it.  Which is what I said in my review.  I reviewed what I read.

As for how I could give the art a three: I felt it was a three.  Not great not awful, just kind of average.  And three is the average between one and five.

  3. I had very similar feelings while reading this.
