Said it
before, and I'll say it again. This story deserves better art. I
haven't been terribly excited for this book since Brubaker left, but
that's not to say that this arc has been bad at all. In concept, it's
an excellent idea. The art style and, at times, the panel-to-panel
storytelling has gotten in the way of that. The writing isn't perfect,
but certainly serviceable. In this issue, we have the conclusion of
our conflict with the slayer of Iron Fists, presented in the form of
what I found to be an elegant and simple solution. Danny figures out
that if he doesn't use his powers, and effectively turns his chi "off",
the monster has nothing to sense or home in on. After a pretty darn
good fight, Danny's off to the 8th City. And unfortunately, it
happened in the book just as abruptly as that sentence came off. Just
the same, this book may not be waht it used to be, but it is certainly
better than it gets credit for.
