Is it just me or does it look like Ed McGuinness was kind of phoning it in for this one? Everything seemed a off model and inconsistent. I really expect more from Mr. McGuinness I suppose for anyone who’s missing the brainless slog of the Loeb run may want to pick this up, but for the rest of us who like the Parker stuff this will seem like a Hulk-sized leap in the wrong direction. Now you can say that this is supposed to be a silly silver age type romp. But if this were the case the whole issue would have been about Hulk and Red Hulk learning to get along with each other in order to beat the bad guy while fused into one being. Instead it’s one big mindless slog fest. With meaningless cameo after meaningless cameo (Impossible Man, honestly?) and endless panels of muscle-y things hitting other muscle-y things. It all resonates with the question “why should I care?” I say if you can live with a one issue gap in your Hulk collection skip this one and wait for the .1 issue.

* Edit: On a more objective read through I really should give the art more due. It may not be McGuinness’ best but there are some pretty impressive panels in this comic. Even if it really isn’t the type of Hulk comic I want to read.
