Though I enjoyed Milligan’s run (it is the comic that got me into the expensive world of buying new), I dropped off the title 7 issues ago. This book hooked me back in and also made me realize how much of my favorite Hellblazer issues are the ones that are self-contained.

If you’ve ever enjoyed a Hellblazer issue in your life, buy this book. I spent $13 on 4 new 52 #4s yesterday, and all of them let me down. I spent $5 on this today, and I can confidently say that this is one of the best new issues I’ve read this year. And probably in the top 10 Hellblazer stories I’ve ever read.

On Hellblazer, Milligan is not as good as Delano or Ennis, better than Ellis, Carey, and Azzarello, and on an equal level as Diggle. And that’s pretty freaking good.
