Lantern fatigue has officially set in for me.

I read comics for years before I ever enjoyed a Green Lantern book.  I would try and try, but never quite connect with the characters.  Then Geoff Johns came along, and for the last three or four years I’ve grown attached to most of the characters, and enjoyed not only the main title, but the Corps book, and the side issues.  As Blackest Night wound down, however, I found myself a little disenchanted.  I’ve dropped Green Lantern Corps.  The last few issues of Green Lantern have been enjoyable, but not as solid as the pre-Blackest Night books.  And now we have this new ongoing: Emerald Warriors.

To me, this is the Green Lantern equivalent of  when Cable took over The New Mutants, and Marvel released X-Force #1.  I don’t really care enough about Guy and Ganthet to read a whole book about them  They’re great side characters, but I’m not so intrigued by them that I want them to have their own book

I’m also not completely buying Tomasi’s writing here.  I appreciate that he is using a different voice, given the focus on Guy Gardner, but it doesn’t mesh for me.  Then again, I never liked the Gardner Green Lantern books, so it could be that Tomasi’s voice here is pitch perfect.  It’s just not one I enjoy listening to.

Fernando Pasarin’s art fits in well with the current Green Lantern artwork.
