Somehow seeing Guy Gardner as a resident philosopher seems right. I mean here's a guy who seems to know what to say and when to say it. Sure he might be a jerk but he is at a point in his life where he really cares about who he loves. This came across my mind the first couple of pages as Guy was explaining to Kyle what love really is. A great start to the beginnings of the Corps getting involved into Blackest Night.

For the most part this issue focuses on the MAY-HEM that happens at Oa when the Black Rings attacked them. Guy, Kyle, Soranik's and her friend try and block the rings going towards the planet. Kilowog and his recruits try to fight the black lanterns as well. Finally we got probably the best sequence of the whole week with this badass character name Morro. Apparently he guards the crypt for fallen GLC members and him just screaming at the rings was awesome to read. There's other moments that are happening as well; including Kryb still feeling bad about her abandoned kids and Mongul now renaming the Sinestro Corps to MONGUL Corps.

I prayed in my sleep hoping that Patrick Gleason could keep the quality going for another issue. Thankfully this is a great looking comic, which is a good thing because there is a lot of MAY-HEM going around the pages. Rings going all over the place, aliens fighting other aliens, and Gleason still creates some imaginative characters. See Morro again to get my meaning.

For the first tie-in for this series this was fun to read. It's not as amazing as the Martin Manhunter fight in the Green Lantern title proper; but still amazing for what this title has been. I still don't know how much, if any, importance that these GLC members will have on the overall scheme of things. But if you've been enjoying following these lantens for the past thirty-eight issues then you'll love this issue just as much.
