  1. Agreed, especially your first statement. The pick of the week podcasts are always a little dissapointing to me because they hardly ever talk about the books I read that week. Eh, different strokes for different folks.

  2. @HossBonaventure: That first statement is laughably untrue. What it translates to is “They don’t like the same books I do, more specifically: this one.” Ron and I tried GREEN LANTERN. We gave it a chance. I read it for probably six months. After a promising start it devolved into more of what I didn’t like about it before the New 52.

@SirSully: Last week was the first time in nine months we didn’t talk about ANIMAL MAN and SWAMP THING. That’s doesn’t mean we dislike them. If you only pull two books chances are higher we might not talk about the books you read. As it is, we don’t talk about half the books I read every week.

  3. Green Lantern and the assorted titles are my favorite family of books but they really are an acquired taste. They are reminiscent of the Xmen with its deep bench of characters and its super convoluted back stories. In that same sense, I like Xmen but I can’t appreciate some references as much as someone like Ron might with his huge repository of X-history.

I appreciate this complexity but I think it makes total sense for new readers to be turned off. Different strokes for different folks.
