I’m pretty new to the DCU as a whole. I know my batman, flash and green lantern, but thats really about it. Reading Blackest Night has been a lot of fun, but i often feel after every issue that i’m not walking away with as much as people who really know their DCU. So when Green Lantern comes out each month i fear that one of my favorite titles will leave me feeling left out. But it never does.

This issue of GL is one of the best in a while. I love Johns’ work, but this issue really made me sit and think about how good he is at orchestrating long term events. Going into this issue, I hated Sinestro. In a “he’s the villain” kind of hate…not character hate. He has been this way for 45 issues of Johns’ run. After those 45 issues, Johns can change your opinion of a character like they have been the hero. This issue made me think twice about sinestro and the character as a whole, i think, will be going in a bit of a different direction from here out.

my only complaint about this issue is that i think Mahnke’s art has some issues in spots with storytelling. Some parts seemed a bit hard to decypher what was happening. But other than a couple spots, really great pages. Especially the splash towards the end.

If your not reading GL, your really missing out on an intense comic. Buy this book.

Story: 5 - Excellent
