Okay, so we're 34 issues into Geoff Johns' GL run, plus Rebirth, and some Sinestro Corps War specials, and I think I've come to a realization: The Guardians of the Galaxy are pretty much dicks. I mean, punishing Hal and Sinestro for 'illegal fraternization' and 'disobeying the territorial edict'? Come on, guys, lighten up a little. It really makes me wonder how Guy and Kyle got a bar up and running in the GLC series.

Plus the Guardians completely ignore anything they don't want to hear throughout the entire series... which I'm guessing is the cause and/or facilitator of Blackest Night. The Guardians of the Galaxy pretty much suck at their jobs. I mean, the galaxy is still here, but really, it's not thanks to them. But I suppose if your race is named 'The Guardians of the Galaxy,' there's gotta be a lot of pressure that comes with it.

Anyway, I was a little underwhelmed with this issue. First of all, I thought this was the final part of the Secret Origin story, so I was a little disappointed when there wasn't a kick ass ending. It was basically more of the same of the last few issues: young, brash Hal interacting with arrogant, snide Sinestro. Don't get me wrong, that's an awesome dynamic, but when you're writing a flashback, and we already know the conflicting paths your main characters take, you really need to throw in some major revelations about the future or crazy twists we didn't know before. And there just weren't any in this issue. (Sorry, Carl Ferris dying of guilt and Hal using his ring on yellow don't cut it.)

Basically this just felt like an unnecessary issue... There's really no need for Secret Origin to be a 7 part story. It's still a good story, certainly on par with pre-Sinestro Corps War stories like Revenge of the Green Lanterns or Wanted Hal Jordan, but the stories had been ramping up towards the SC War for so long that this feels like a bit of a let down. I'm still excited for the next issue, but only because I'm hoping it will start the ramping up for Blackest Night.
