When Geoff Johns ended his run, the Green Lantern books were primed and ready for a fresh new direction complete will all-new creative teams. What I fear we are seeing, however, is the oppressive hand of the DC Editorial Overlords. With his second issue, I can’t help but think there is someone going over Robert Venditti’s scripts, whispering in his ear “just do what Geoff did”. The story feel like a retread of several of Johns’s stories, dealing yet again with more lanterns of various colors attacking Oa and a prisoner escaping from the Sciencells. I know Venditti has the potential to be a great writer from his past works, but this just doesn’t have that same spark.
