So after buying Green Arrow #1 17 months back, to be thoroughly dissapointed, its safe to say I did not pick up another issue. Until now, Jeff Lemire is doing great things with Animal Man and Justice League Dark and I was very much looking forward to his team up with Sorrentino to take on Green Arrow, a title that deserves to have a super creative team, and they did not disappoint. This is an engaging story with great art. I have not kept up to speed with the goings on of Oliver Queen's life since the start of the new 52 but whatever that may have been seemed to be removed before my eyes, leaving only Green Arrow, with his bow, to take down a guy who has systematically taken his life away within the beginning of this book, framing him for murder and killing his closest friends and allies, cutting the metaphorical flesh straight to the bone and leaving you with two men trying to take each other down in a battle of skill and grit. Looking to be down and out against his opponent he is saved by a character who gives more questions than answers, the perfect way to get your readers wanting more, even if they did not before hand. I loved this take on Green Arrow and will definitely be adding this as a permanent fixture to my pull list, thank you Jeff Lemire and Andrea Sorrentino. P.S DC Please stop advertising the Arrow TV Series on your covers its ruining the cover art!
