This issue doesn’t focus as much on the relationship between Harley and Joker as the cover would lead you to believe. It is still all about relationships though with the one between Black Mask and Alice Sinner getting most of the attention. To a lesser extent it’s also about the relationship between Harley and Ivy and that between Catwoman and the Batmen in her life.

I was enjoying the trip through the mind of Harley Quinn and I hope we get more of that soon but it was clearly a great chance to compare her bond with Joker with the one between Alice and Jeremiah Arkham. Calloway then sets them against each other as Black Mask has been playing mind games with the guards to bend them to his will and Joker is undoing his hard work by killing them just for laughs. To complicate things further Catwoman is guilted into trying to help Harley while Ivy arrives to force her to make a final choice between her and the Joker.

All these different threads at least have the possibility of coming together in what should be an epic clash and the interior art of Andres Guinaldo is the equal of the fantastic cover. The recent issues of Sirens have been some of the strongest and it’s a great time to get into this book if you haven’t already.
