It’s nice that Ennis is going with the humor for this series as the
last one kind of made me want to open a vein. I know it’s easy humor to
make fun of the way people outside of London’s speach patterns, but it
still is funny. I can’t help but imagine Dick Van Dyke as the Corperal.
It’s not all laughs, obviously, but considering what Ennis is known for
it isn’t too brutal. The worst parts, violence wise, were the opening
bit with the original corp, and really who didn’t see that ending
happening, and the German helped by the intern. I kind of would prefer
the title come from some other scene since it just seemed incidental
instead of anything else. The art was excellent, but I think ‘E’ is the
second best collaborator Ennis gets, right behind Dillon. I loved the
image of the soldier in the tank tracks at the beginning. 8/10
