Finally. We see something that was changed in the past that affected the Flashpoint world. It seems because Aquaman was not raised catholic, he now hates the surface world. I found myself much more interested in the past than in the present. I think the Bedard back story was very good in fleshing out the character and I enjoyed Cifuentes art. I gave the art a 4 just for the backstory coloring alone. Kyle Ritter did a great job of separating the past from the present with a beautiful pallet for the past colors. Overall, I enjoy the flashpoint books and Emperor Aquaman is a good read.

  1. “It seems because Aquaman was not raised catholic, he now hates the surface world.”

Interesting statement there, to me it wasn’t that he rejected Catholicism that made him how he is, but that being half-Atlantean and being the “chosen one” as King of the Sea, that’s an entirely different dynamic psychologically, one that a Christian religion by itself cannot reconcile.  I don’t see Arthur in this “hating” the surface world in this anyways, he’s King of Atlantis, that has to come with tremendous responsibility as far as ruling and protecting an ancient society and kingdom, I would see it only inherently natural in someone in Aquaman’s position to have an animosity toward the surface world.

  2. Dude it was a joke, I understand what they were getting at.
