In Flash #3 Geoff Johns and Francis Manapul continue their exciting romp through Central city as the Flash continues to be given problems by the Reverse-Flash task force. In this issue we see the immediate aftermath of both the cliffhanger ending from the last issue, and the fight between the prison guards and Captain Boomerang. First of all I have to say the main plot in this story between Flash and the Renegades is not really an interesting story. It is much of the same old Flash vs the Rogues dynamic that we see constantly in the pages of the Flash that works, but sometimes you just want more. But as I say I want more Geoff Johns gives more.

It can be argued that the best thing this book has got going for it the continuing relationships we see play out throughout this issue. The scenes with Barry and Iris as well as Barry and his co workers are what truly separates this book from any other comic on the stands. The scene with Barry and his co workers in particular gives this show a CSI type feel about it that simply other books can`t quite match

And even if the main plot is not as interesting as I hoped it would be, Geoff Johns continues to smoothly move the plot forward. By finally showing us exactly what effect the black ring had on Captain Boomerang, I personally think it adds to this character and makes him just a bit more interesting than he initially was. Plus the small reference made by one of the renegades over a future plot point only excites me more over where this book is headed.

As for Francis Manapul`s art, what can I say? It is perfect for a book like the Flash and he continues to prove to everybody that he is a true talent in the industry, and has all the potential to become one of the greats in his craft.

Overall the Flash #3 was a solid issue whose plot was strong enough to keep me interested and whose art continues to impress. I look forward for the story to pick up steam and get more and more interesting in the months ahead and for the Flash to become one the most important characters that DC has to offer.

Story: 3 - Good
Art: 5 - Excellent
