Its not uncommon to read a blog or review that complains about an issue being one part of an endless crossover, or an unnecessary tie in or having such a convuluted history that a new reader would have no chance understanding what is going on. Refreshingly the Flash is none of these things. Yeah it has the Brightest Day banner and tells the story of the return of a silver age character but thats not what the book is about. Johns has decided to forget everything else and just tell a fun flash story. No matter your age or experience in reading comics you can pick up this issue and just have fun reading. There is no tease for 12 other issues or 7 other series but instead a wacky time travel murder mystery with the Flash doing what he can to help others. How can you not smile after Barry rebuilds an apartment building and makes sure the little girl that lives there has her doll. This comic is classic gold and I hope Johns and Manapul stay on this book for the long haul.
