I'll join the club of people who will be writing rave reviews of this comic.  I picked it up from my local shop on the way to pick up my wife from work.  Luckily she was running about 15 minutes late so I sat in the car and had my first read.

This book reminded me of the equally fantastic Sinestro Corps Special one-shot (which I bought and quickly read sitting on a park bench next to Lake Michigan) before that event.  Johns does a phenomenal job of setting up the new story, and even going beyond to set up the next year of Green Lantern.

I'll be reading this at least a few more times to get all of the little background things that happened but on first read it is just thrilling.  The intro of the Red Lantern Corps is great and very creepy.  The cat is just awesome.  If you have a cat that hates you (like my wife's cat) you'll instantly understand how a little furry creature can harness hatred and anger.  There are going to be people out there who diss the furry Red Lantern, but I like the concept.  Why does something have to look scary and horrific to harness rage?

We also get a shot of the beings that are chasing after the Orange Light of Avarice and we see our first official Blue Lantern which was a great surprise.

The art by Shane Davis is excellent.  Us GL fans have been pretty spoiled by Mr. VanSciver and Mr. Reis but this is great art.

Not that I needed any more reason to be excited, but I cannot wait to pick up Green Lantern (and Green Lantern Corps is not bad either) each month.
