Even when the book isn’t at it’s top form, Jonathan Hickman’s ‘FF’ is still my favorite Marvel book right now. This isn’t a bad issue by any means but there wasn’t anything to be wowed by either. Last issue had some great, great moments with the Evil Future Foundation and especially with Doctor Doom. While there is a great moment involving the kids in the opening pages, that’s all that I can really remember that was great about the issue. The story is moving at a brisk pace so that could be it, or maybe it’s just that this ‘War of Four Cities’ haven’t started yet it seems. Either way this is a fun issue, but not as amazing as the past four before it. Barry Kitson though has been pretty damn good since replacing Epting and I’m curious as to why he isn’t doing the next issue. His style is a bit different to Epting’s but it somehow fits the tone quite well for the book. If anything this series shows almost anyone can mimic Jack Kirby and get away with it.

So again this is a good, but not great issue of FF. I’m still intrigued by what Hickman is doing and he’s had a great group of artists make this an amazing series for Marvel. It’s just a shame there wasn’t a moment or moments to make this a really amazing issue like the previous four.

Story: 4 - Very Good
Art: 5 - Excellent
