I know this is week late guys so let me give ya the rundown:

-Hickman writes himself a pretty good ‘all-ages’ comic here. I mean that’s basically what this is because apart from some punches, this could really be accessible to anyone to read. The children behave like children, with some Hickman charm to it, and the book can be hilarious at times.

-Nick Dragotta coming on this title has been a godsend! No offense to Juan Bobillo isn’t a bad artist, but his style just was not working on this book. I find it silly that Hickman fully addressed it in the letter’s page but it is what it is. With Dragotta, it gives this title a sort of vintage feel to it. It’s hard to describe but I think if you put Dragotta’s pencils into the 1960s I’d think he’d fit right in. The characters have an early, Jack Kirby look tot hem or in the very least it looks like an old FF book from the 1960s. It’s kind of cartoony but then you see gorgeous backgrounds like cities in the distance or the ‘deus ex machina’ machine and you’re sudden engrossed by the detail. It’s a shame he wasn’t put on the title from the start because this arc would probably have been much more enjoyable if he was.

This was the ONLY issue to come out for the last week of February but it would have been my pick of the week without any shame. A huge step up from the previous issues because of Hickman’s great writing of the children and Nick Dragotta just worked perfectly for the series. Can’t wait to see more of these two in action for the next couple of months.
