I repeat myself a lot. I’ve come to terms with that and I do what I can not to repeat myself…..Did I mention I repeat myself? I mention this because I state a lot of the things I love and hate…..I mean a lot. (Clears head) Sorry, I mention this because Deathstroke is actually one of my favorite villains, but I never state it outright. Probably because for the last couple of years I havent seen this character used to any good potentional. I know he’s been in Teen Titans recently but I dont read those comics, plus he was in ‘Last Will and Testament’ but I didnt read that either.

Maybe I should have read the previous title mentioned cause this spins right off from Deathstroke’s encounter with Geo-Force. Here we see Wilson seemingly getting depressed from almost getting killed, he just wants to die. With his daughter visiting him we see his true intentions and how he still is one of the most cunning people in the DCU. Overall the story was pretty so-so. It gives us a semi-origin to new readers while trying to make a convincing story for the rest of us. Hine is a good writer and I have enjoyed a lot of his recent work, but this is pretty medicore for the most part.

I dont read the recent Buffy comics but Jeanty apparently does the majority of the pencils for it. I like his work, detailed in a lot of ways but cartoony in others. His character designs are soild and no one ever look the same but he does a good anatomy for them as well. The backgrounds are also pretty soild as well, but sometimes they look a little too simple. The art is what your gonna like in this issue more then anything else.

Deathstroke is a great villain, and hopefully this one-shot starts a trend to make him a more used villain. I know he mainly fights the Titans but he can be anyone’s villain if a writer gave him a chance. Still this one-shot is soild all through out, but not the greatest thing to read this week.

Story: 3 - Good
Art: 4 - Very Good

  1. I don’t want to sound stupid, but if you like Deathstroke, you might want to check out some Teen Titans as he is their main adversary. One of the better recent (and by recent I mean comparatively with the long Titans history) was "A Kid’s Game" which is the first trade paperback in the Geoff Johns relaunch from around ’03.

  2. @Nate: Geoff Johns? Teen Titans? Deathstroke?

    Sold!

  3. How do you feel about Green Arrow? There was a pretty good Green Arrow vs Deathstroke story not too long ago. I can’t remember the exact issues, but it was shortly after the OYL jump in the Green Arrow book.

  4. @Ntomcrto: Ah…..Never read that stuff either. lol

Actually when I got back into comics, after Kingdom Come I read Identity Crisis. Not only was that a great book, but a great Deathstroke moment with him fighting the JLA. I think that’s where that feud your mentioning with Green Arrow starts. I’ll try that too cause I did hear that was pretty good plot point coming from Identity.
