I have thoroughly enjoyed the last two issues of Earth 2. James Robinson has taken the JSA in a great new direction, with greatly paced origin stories, great twists on those origin stories, and fun Easter eggs for the loyal JSA fan base. Safe to say, I was excited to pick up this book today. I was not dissapointed. We get to see Alan Scott becoming the Green Lantern and we get to see Jay Garrick, the Flash, and Hawkgirl interacting. Those were pretty exciting, and I especially dug on Alan Scott’s becoming of the Green Lantern. It’s was a great characterization of Alan Scott and a great take on the origin. Though all those things were exciting, the high point of the book was the last page, when we’re introduced to the villain of the first arc. Not only was the build to his reveal intense, but the villain is incredibly familiar and is going to make for a great story.
James Robinson continues to deliver with his characterizations and dialogue. His take on these characters is fantastic and very clever. Both Alan Scott and Jay Garrick are admirable and will make for great leaders of, hopefully, the future JSA.
Nicola Scott’s art was very solid, and is perfect for this book.
It’s not too late to jump on, and you really need to.

Story: 5 - Excellent
Art: 4 - Very Good

  1. I agree, this title gets better with every issue and the build up has been very captivating. I thoroughly enjoyed this issue and am officially hooked on Earth 2.

  2. Art is 5 as well! I was surprised by the twist Robinson gave to The Green Lantern’s origin by connecting him to the Swamp Thing. I also loved the art in this issue, especially the Flash-Hawkgirl scenes, Nicola Scott rocks. And the new Grundy… the tweaks made to the character are quite interesting.
