Yikes….this was a very rough start for a book that I went into having pretty high hopes.  I thought that the sequential art felt very jumpy, I thought the story was not very well plotted, and I thought the dialogue felt very awkward at times…

And the eyes.  I HATE the way the characters eyes are drawn….specifically the two little kids that Doc Savage saves.  This art choice alone would make me drop this book.

Except….

I LOVED the second feature with Justice Inc.  As soon as I got to the end, I realized that I was dying for more.  I love the art, and the writing by Starr was awesome.  I would buy this as a main feature ANY day over the Savage story.  So is it crazy to pay 3.99 a month for a 10ish page second feature?  Probably….but I don’t know that I’ll be able to stay away from what Starr is doing here.

Dammit.

jeff.

  1. Jason Starr is one hell of a storyteller. Check out his work in the Hard Case Crime books if you want to read some crazy stuff. His co-plotting with Ken Bruen has made for some great hours for me.
