Grant Morrison should sue China Mieville for taking his idea of how to write a comic. Cause there’s so many influences of his writing style in this issue. It doesn’t make for a fully enjoyable read mind you. There are a lot of times I had a hard time figuring out what the hell was going on. You get the gist of what is happening but Mieville makes it so damn confusing to figure out the details of the issue. What was that thing that came out of the Abyss? No idea! Just an example of how something that could easily be explained is anything but.

The art by Mateus Santolouco is really good though and it is a selling point for this series. His work is a bit rougher then usual but it still works for me. There’s a lot of great double page spreads in here involving Abyss and it looks absolutely fantastic. If only the writing could be just as good as the art I would recommend this series fully in a heart beat. For now though I do have to warn some of you guys that this series is a bit of a hit or miss with me and it will be with you jumping into it.

Story: 2 - Average
Art: 4 - Very Good
