There’s nothing wrong with telling a poetic or dreamlike story in a comic format, but it can be extremely alienating to open a series in a manner as inscrutable and inaccesible as this book does. This is definitely a pretty book and an interesting book, but I won’t pretend to fathom even a fraction of what I read. I don’t have any sense what-so-ever for any of the characters and I can’t even tell what kind of story is trying to be told.

For all I know, this could end up turning into a great run, but next month I’m gonna spend my $3 elsewhere.
