Wow! What a great end to a great story. To say that Scott Snyder’s run on Detective Comics is one of the best runs on a Batman title is an understatement. I’ve loved every issue in this run and Detective 881 was no different. Every story, character and arch came to a great and fitting conclusion with all the little teases and seeds from previous issues being tied up nicely. James Gordon will now, for me, go down as one of Batman’s greatest villains in his rouges gallery. Every great hero needs a great villainn, a ying to their yang if you will. Bruce Wayne has Joker, and Dick Grayson now has James Gordon. Hes so incredibly creepy and evil in this last issue that your literally begging Dick to show up and tear him apart. And what a fitting end, to have Jim Gordon facing off with his son on the very bridge that he was nearly killed, and in some way created on in Batman Year One. When DC collects another story to make into an absolute edition it should definitely be Scott’s run on Detective. To have this run in a complete collection with Jock and Francesco’s art would be epic.
