As usual the art on the cover and inside is amazing.

However, some of the writing here was unbelievable. At the outset Gordon talks about Gotham being a city of steel, glass, concrete, but that underneath it’s really more than that. If there is an office bet going on for the most cliched opening in a book this year we know who won. Then later Gordon asks Dick if he ever thinks about the people close to them they put in danger by doing this. There is not room for such clunking, unoriginal dialogue in 20-22 pages. I mean if Gordon is starting a dialogue with this for the 10 millionth time he must be one boring man to have a conversation with.

I am going through one of those stages where the hero books are leaving me a bit unsatisfied and not reaching the level of artistic maturity I am looking for, and get with some of the indies. This book though has been the exception and I am sure by next issue it will be back on track. Either that or Gordon will start a conversation about how Batman and the Joker need each other and are two sides of the same coin.God, what a tiresome dinner party guest he would be.

Story: 3 - Good
Art: 5 - Excellent
