This issue was a welcome change for the Demon Knights-both in series and story.
Picking up 30 years after the previous story arc, this issue gives us glimpses into what the Demon Knights have been doing in the intermittent decades through the dialogue. All the while a new threat is emerging on the fringes of civilized Europe.
Robert Venditti uses this issue and hopefully this story arc to flesh out and define the world of the Demon Knights much like the first story arc. This may be the Middle Ages of Europe but it's not OUR middle ages. It's the middle ages of the DC Universe filled with strange and wondrous creatures and Venditti lays the foundation for the world of the Demon Knights. The very beginning takes place along the fringes of the Holy Roman Empire,Gibraltar is the "vacation home" of Vandal Savage and the scientifically minded city where Al-Jabr makes his home.
All in all this issue has a bit of action, mystery and some good old fashion getting the band back together.
