A title like this shouldnt work. I mean seriously; a comic with Tiger Shark as the main villain shouldnt be a good comic. But somehow, with the team of Daniel Way and Paco Medina; this title continues to give me great reason to pick this title up.
Here's a test to see if the humor in this book will work for you. If you like a full page showing a kid poke a character's eye out, then you will like this book. It's that type of gross out, or slapstick, or even diaologue exchange type of humor that makes me love this book. Daniel Way is just the best writer for Deadpool. I'm sorry that you dont like him overall as a writer, but to me he is perfect for this book. This might've just be a quick issue to get us closer to the Deadpool/Thunderbolts crossover but the humor and story in this issue alone will make you happy.
Paco Medina is back on pencils after a quick (and confusing) change of artists last issue. Again Medina is perfect for this title cause he adds a great blend of cartoon-like drawings but still add a gritty feel to the book. Maybe it's too cartoony for some, but I just like how he draws his characters. It doesnt hurt he draws some good looking women as well....Anywho...
Deadpool, after six issues, is safe for me to say this is going to be a great comic for a while. If Way can continue to write this style of humor and deliever the goods on story then this will be an entertaining comics for issues to come. I just honestly cant wait to see where this Thunderbolt crossover will take us. Let's hope Daniel Way knows how to write the Thunderbolts.
Art: 4 - Very Good
SPOT ON!
Solid review. It’s no longer an accident, nor is it a short term phenomenon.
Way’s Deadpool may be the definitive take on this character – it certainly is to this point. In any case, it’s really good.
i couldn’t agree more
I have loved this series from issue 1. Both the art and the writing have been great but this issue was the weakest for me. As you said it feels sort of like filler until the crossover. Also I thought the parts with the nurse were weird and unnecessary. Great book so far, hope it gets back on track next month.
