The less said about Huat’s art the better. Seriously it was so bad I don’t even have the energy to make ‘funny’ quips about it. Just that if you wanna read this for the art…..Don’t.

From a writing stand point, this is actually a very big high point for Daniel Way. It’s been almost two years now and I really think he has changed Deadpool…..Slightly, but there is a change here. Two years ago he was just the anti-hero, not caring about who got in his way. With this issue he shows that now Deadpool has, somewhat. of a conscious here. There is a good amount of jokes that doesn’t involve fart joke, or pop culture references. Some nice observations about being a hero, or just being Deadpool in general. Although Way does go the ‘high’ road by doing stereotypical Redneck jokes. But whatever, it serves its purpose without being too low brow. Actually Way should also be commended for the dialect used for all the southerners here. Now I’ve never been that down South, but it seems like Way takes care on making them sound genuine and not generic. Trust me it does seem like more care was put into this then what you think.

We’re getting close to the big ‘sexy party’ (see next issue’s cover) and I cannot wait to see where Way takes us. Deadpool is getting so close to becoming a genuine hero. Amazing…..even as a big fan like myself, I never would’ve thought possible. On a whole however, with atrocious art aside, this was a good issue.

Story: 4 - Very Good
Art: 1 - Poor

Comments

  1. I told you about the art. I honestly don’t see how he gets work.

  2. There are some pages here that made me shocked that Marvel allowed this to be published. It’s that bad!
