I shoved off Deadpool a few years ago. Not because it was bad, but because the joke was wearing on me, and there wasn’t enough interesting plot or god jokes to balance the horrible art (this was back in 2009).

I picked this up because, like most people, if you throw a number one on something, I’ll believe it’s a new product.

Of course, the Marvel Now #1s aren’t reboots, just changes on the creative team, and this book continues the continuity that I’m three years behind on. But, that’s ok, all you really need to know is that this title features Deadpool fighting resurrected presidents.

Whether or not that sounds like the kind of thing you’d enjoy pretty much sums up whether or not you’ll enjoy it. Despite Terry Moore’s gorgeous art, and Val Staples’s bold coloring, this is just a Deadpool book. Some funny one-liners, some real clunkers. I don’t see it either alienating old readers, or drawing anyone new it. Viva la consistency.

Story: 3 - Good
Art: 5 - Excellent
