There is no reason why this scene couldn't have been whittled down to 4 pages and
put into Uncanny X-men. It is entirely recap. I have now seen the two of them in that bed where Beast came in 3 times, for goodness sakes. We discover that each of them was afraid to tell the other because they thought the other would love them less. But it turns out, they both trust in each other so completely now that all their horrific revelations don't really bother them at all. Way to take what was one strong bit of tension that had been building up for a year and half across several X-titles and deflate it like a wet balloon. The art started off strong, but it kind of sputtered along with the story and by end it seemed quite mundane and boring. A more blatant attempt to squeeze money from the devoted X-Base I have not seen since this exact same week (The List). The List was better, but not by a lot.
When you realize that you squandered $4 like that, one becomes desperate to at least partially justify the outlay. Here is the tiny scrap of straw I managed to snatch and take away from that crap pile: Right before the kiss they say that when this gets out to the rest of the world, they won't be accepted by X-man or Avenger. To me, this hints at something interesting: That the major meltdown is still to come. When it happens Scott and Emma will be removed from power and sent wandering the world, friendless. Will Xavier return to power? Or will a new X-man rise to lead them? I know, I know. A lot to take from one throw away comment, but I was desperate.

I honestly don’t expect this to have anything to do with continuity. Considering that Emma’s involvement has already been revealed and nobody seems to care.
I disagree about "The List" though; it’s a good one-shot Namor story that continues the Utopia story. Just because something’s a one-shot doesn’t make it useless.
@ohc: ?? How can you not expect this to have anything to do with continuity when the whole point of this one-shot was to flesh-out and expand a scene that was kinda pivotal to recent continuity? The rationale behind this issue was "Yeah, readers would actually want to see more of what happened between Emma and Cyke, so it’s let them in on what happened." I agree with you about The List, though; I liked it a lot more than "Confession", but I didn’t hate "Confession" either.
Because character continuity in these books sucks, and I don’t expect that to change?
I thought "The List" was an acceptable Namor story. Parts of it worked for me, but the whole thing had a rushed not well thought out feel to me. What irritated me more was the "X-men" put in big letters on the cover. They were only tangentially involved and it was probably their involvement that ended up destroying the pacing and otherwise interesting aspects dealing directly with Namor and Osborn. I am not saying any of this surprised me. I have been collecting X-Titles since 1985. I will keep coming back for punishment and Marvel knows it. But it can still be disappointing.
