Yes, be warned. The $3.99 includes an ancient Spider-man reprint showing when the Green Goblin first fought the Hulk. Stan Lee and Ditko, so kind of neat, but there is not $4 worth of new content. First off, the art was beautiful. Really clean and dynamic figures with bright, painterly colors. The story starts off great with Ms. Hand of the Osborn's Hammer getting her ass Handed to her (see what I did there?) by the new dynamic duo of Banner and son. Nice bad-guys-getting-their-comeuppance moment. Well as the title implies, that gets Banner on to Osborn's infamous List.
In the second half, Ms. Hand and Moonstone go out to place the check mark next to Banner's name. Fighting ensues. I like the new go-go gadget technosmart Banner stuff that Greg Pak is building up in this new Incredible Hulk, but Ms. Hand must be the 3rd smartest person in the world because she fools Banner over and over again during the fight. I was also a bit confused how Hand was going to shoot Banner in his time bubble, but the explosion outside the bubble did not affect him. Story convenient physics rub me the wrong way, but then again it is a story about a man who turns green and somehow always seems to find a pair of purple pants with a super-elastic, no-rip crotch, so I should probably just let it go.
My biggest problem is that the story just ends abruptly. One moment we are mid-fight, the next Skaar smells something (huh?) and boom -- everyone runs away. Turns out it was all just a trap: The lab he was going to attack was seeding him with new Gamma radiation. Skaar likes it because it will hurry Banner back into the Hulk, Osborn likes it because Skaar will then kill the Hulk. No one seems too concerned about the possibility of the Hulk, who recently declared war on the Earth, escaping death and coming after Osborn, Moonstone, or Avengers Tower again. And if the radiation is from the Lab, why did we have to send in Hand and Moonstone in the first place? I like Greg Pak and I find his Banner and child interactions interesting, but this whole convoluted scenario seemed like a tenuous excuse for a story. Like maybe something Marvel forced him to write so they could sell more The List books? Some fun fighting, great art, but neither a great story or essential to following the Hulk. As they say right in the book, his powers were going to come back anyway.
