Truth to be told, I took a break from Daredevil when Bendis left, and I've only picked up sporadic issues of the Brubaker run since. Well, after picking up this issue, I'm sticking around for the foreseeable future. This is the first book I've read this week, and I'm extremely tempted to just make it my pick. I loved this issue top to bottom. Storywise, if you know anything about the Kingpin, you probably know what is going to happen from the beginning. But, the great thing is, Kingpin does, too. And we follow the story from his perspective. He knows it's all gonna end badly, because this is a Kingpin story. He's stuck in a storyline he's written for himself. And it's not about God or whomever punishing a sinner for his sins, it's about the way certain people are drawn to violence, so violence naturally finds them. Brubaker does a great job in this issue, but Aja is the real star. From the backgrounds, to the facial expressions, to the page layouts, he just knocked it out of the park. Overall, as a primer on the Kingpin, this book is excellent and it's a great jumping-on point for new or returning readers.
