Last month I claimed that the third issue of this event made it ‘the best event ever’ in my opinion. Yes it’s hyperbole and I’ll be damned to retract that statement. This has been so much fun to read and the talent involved has been so on their ‘A’ game that I can’t think of any other ‘events’ that are better. We’re on the penultimate issue of this end for Incredible Hercules and it continues all the fun I’ve at….maybe just a bit of a lull though.

There’s still a lot of great action going on and the usual quips you’d expect from a Hercules adventure. In fact this event has turned from a Marvel problem to just a Hercules/Cho in four short issues. I like it how it’s also bringing back all the problems Hercules has had for a character and this event is sort of a rebirth for the character. I also like the subtle twist with Athena and I’d be interested to see where that’s going go once this event is over. The only thing about this issue I can really say anything negative that this is a bit slower of an issue then others. Lots of talking heads involved and very little action. When we do get action, it’s great, but the slower tempo does ruin the pace of the book a bit.

Khoi Pham’s artwork is unbelieveably gorgeous. I don’t even need to describe it. Just look at page 24 of this issue. Look at it! That’s all you need to know to see how gorgeous this book is.

So while this issue is not as action packed as the others, it’s still a lot of fun. I can’t wait to see where Fred Van Lente and Greg Pak are going to do to end their amazing run on Hercules.
