Lateness be damned! It took a whole four months to get this second issue out, but I don’t care! When you have artwork in a book like this, then you can take all the time in the world. Plus with a man like Warren Ellis, I don’t think he gives a shit if I cared anyways…

Warren Ellis doing steampunk or anything with an alternate timeline will always be gold. Here it’s no different where we get a late 19th century setting but with pirates in power of electricity. The dialogue, for a lack of a better word, is confusing as hell to read at first. But once the pirate speak gets going it gets easier to read. Kinda like how Morrison handled the Pirates in ‘Return of Bruce Wayne’. So far with two issues going I still don’t know where this is going, but thankfully the character Hobbes explains it to all of us with only a page to go. I find it incredibly funny and I don’t know why. But Ellis actually getting a character to explain what we just read is funny…

Raulo Caceres is a damn fine good artist. His work explains the lateness because…..well look at these pages! So much detail with every panel and every character. There’s more detail in these two page spreads then what Ivan Reis did in ‘Blackest Night’ (if you can believe that). I also love the electrical effects in here. Anything that shows how creative Caceres (and colorist Digikore) are with electricity means they were perfect for this title.

God knows when the next issue will come out but I don’t mind the wait. As long as Ellis continues with the crazy and Caceres brings the gorgeous, then I will continue waiting…..Kinda like an abusive relationship really…
