This is my pick in a week where I really liked everything I read. We’re getting more and more background on Bucky, and Brubaker is quietly giving us a great WWII book without many superheroics (don’t worry tights fans, there are still enough superheroics to satisfy). The realization that Bucky comes to in the last third of the book was one of the more moving things that I’ve read in a while and it was handled so well by both writer and artist.

And the art? What can I say about Samnee that hasn’t already been said? He is doing an amazing job and has been since starting this series. My only problem with the series is that I wish Samnee was doing the covers as well (that’s not a slight against McGuinness, whose work I like, I would just love to see what Samnee would do with the covers).

This is on my short-list for favorite ongoing right now, and considering how many good books there are out there, that’s really saying something.

Story: 5 - Excellent
