Considering I’ve been reading the trades and not the single issues, this is a bit weird for me. Don’t get me wrong, I love reading the trades for this classic series….But with a story that is moving so slow and it took so long to come out, it would get me pissed off that reading two trades is still making me miss a bunch of issues. Since I dont wanna wait til I’m done college (in three years) to get all of this in yet another omnibus, I’d rather to spend 3 dollars a week then just spend 20-30 bucks on a trade.

Brubaker certainly knows how to make good fights. You could’ve just read Messiah Complex (which 99.9% of the story is fighting) and tell he can make an action film. This on the other hand shows the struggle of Bucky and fake Nazi Cap as they duke it out in D.C. I, for one, love nostalga; and it’s great to see old time characters like this be brought back to life….Not that I’m clamoring for a return of Nazi’s mind you, but the Grand Dictator was a great villian and could certain stand his own on Cap considering his friends are a bunch of dicks who are slowly dieing off from a war almost 70 years ago.

The starbucks drinking and corporate Red Skull is still a delight here. Again, it’s nice to see progress of the story here. For over 39 issues I had to deal with Red Skull always winning; but it’s nice to see that him and his other ‘friends’ are starting to sense that getting their ass kicked is on the horizon. God knows how long this ‘Death of Captain America’ arc Brubaker has left in him. Honestly, Red Skull cant have much ideas left when or if Grand Dick loses his fight. But if this is only act II, then act III can only come next so let’s hope we see a return of the Bartoc the Leaper, the Watchdogs, and Master Mind and have a more gritty look to them.

Now if you excuse me, I have to read all 40 issues of this title again….cause god knows it’ll take that long to see issue #41 to come out.
