The new Aqualad has some depth, I agree with that, and I like Mera as a character as well, but I think more could’ve been done to develop the scope of these characters.  I’ve always been an Aquaman fan, but more of the regal, badass version that he was during Will Pfeifer’s run. I appreciate John’s attempt to make Black Manta more of a formidable foe for Arthur Curry, rather than the pesky menace he always has been, but Aquaman has always been able to dominate BM in the end, and that’s the situation I’d actually prefer.
