We’re finally reaching the point in Brightest Day where things are starting to make sense; that doesn’t mean everything is necessarily good, but it does mean we’re getting some great material out of the sections which are. The Firestorm storyline remains interesting, moving into a new realm and presenting some new ideas. Meanwhile, the Hawkgirl and Hawkman story manages not to be awful this issue, but it still feels like the least engaging element of the book, and is mainly bolstered due to the appearance of the Star Sapphires and a progression in the Green Lantern plot. The best of the bunch, though, remains the Deadman story which is turning into an emotional rollercoaster; this issue finally managed to make Boston Brand truly human and his actions within the story were heartfelt and truly the essence of heroism. The art remains on par with the storytelling, balancing different styles to accommodate the depth of story and will of character. In all, it looks like, moving into the final act, this book is going to remain interesting.

Story: 4 - Very Good
