  1. Could Deadman turn ‘dead’ and back again previously?  I didn’t think so, thought that was kinda lame really.

Knew Batman wouldn’t keep the ring for long, but so Brand has the power to choose who gets the ring, and then the ring accepts or rejects the host thereafter?  Interesting, but why can’t the ring simply choose it’s bearer just like any other power ring can?  Why depend on Brand to choose for it, why does it need to?

The Deadman parts have been my least fave of the series, but what’s intriguing to me is why rely on Brand to choose for it, to teach him a lesson, or does it have a purpose in the larger scheme of things?

  2. I like the new take on Deadman. I don’t know if Brand has as much power to choose the next white lantern as we or he  thinks he does. I think his role is to be more of a custodian for now. I think that events will lead Brand to go someplace and then the ring will meet up with whoever the final lantern is. I think the ring will choose the bearer, but it feels like Brand has to do or discover something first for that to happen. I think he’s an integral piece of the puzzle. I’m glad it wasn’t Bruce Wayne….WAAAAAAAAAAY to obvious and kinda trite.

Brightest Day is all about rebirth, and Deadman’s entire existence has been that of walking that line between death and life. There is something in that, and i’m sure when its revealed we’re all going to loose our sh#t. haha

  3. Doesn’t seem to me like you’re describing, because the ring even says to him, "You’ve chosen unwisely," in terms of trying to give it to Bruce, it seems to be relying on Deadman to make the right choice for the ring, to decide who is worthy to bear it.

If Deadman when alive had a death wish, I would think now that he’s being given a second chance, he would appreciate life all the more now, giving up on his prior attitudes on life, what with the years of being Deadman and having a chance to contemplate his mistakes while alive.
