For me, this title is all about Deadman.  I’ve never cared about the Hawks.  Firestorm only interests me as a background character.  And I’m one of those rare people who finds Aquaman neither laughable nor intriguing.

And while I do really like where the Deadman story seems to be going, the highlight for me is how Aquaman’s powers appear to be affected by Blackest Night.  NOW I’m interested in what happens to Aquaman.  But I still don’t care about the hawks or Firestorm.

Tomasi and Johns work really well together, so I was in no way surprised that I enjoyed the writing.  I was a little surprised that there were five artists and four inkers, and I they all ranged from very good to excellent.  The ocean panels, in particular, were stunning.

Dress me in an orange scale wetsuit and hand me my white ring, I’m on board for this series.

  1. For me it’s all about Deadman and Firestorm.  The Aquaman angle was cool and I can’t wait to see where it goes.  I can’t wait to see how Ronnie and Jason resolve their issues.  Artwise I’d love to see them switch the driver seats when it come to Firestorm and have different look for each personality.

  2. @JesTr: Yes, definitely yes, to the different artsits portraying the different personalities of Firestorm.
